CareTrust gets new CEO amid rumors of sale

CareTrust (Nasdaq: CTRE) appointed former president and COO David Sedgewick to be its new CEO.

Before joining the San Clemente, California-based real estate investment trust (REIT), Sedgwick held leadership positions at the Ensign Group (Nasdaq: ENSG), CareTrust’s largest tenant. CareTrust itself was formed in a spin-off from Ensign in 2014.

Sedgwick replaced Greg Stapley, who will remain with the company as executive chairman during a six-month transitional period.s

The move comes amid rumors of a sale of the company.

At the end of the third quarter, CareTrust had 40 senior living communities and 160 skilled nursing facilities in its portfolio.

Jeanette Allen is NexCore’s new health & wellness VP

Senior housing industry veteran Jeanette Allen was announced as the new vice president of health and wellness for Experience Senior Living (ESL), a NexCore Group company.

Allen’s resume includes stops at Balfour, Senior Lifestyle Corp, and others.

Her focus on wellness and optimal aging align with the ESL mission, according to company president, Phil Barklow.

“We are excited to have Jeanette contribute her expertise as we create and deliver the most innovative health and wellness initiatives to our senior communities and their residents,” he said.

Most recently, Allen was VP of health and wellness at Balfour Senior Living, and prior to that, she was divisional director of health and wellness at Senior Lifestyle Corp.

Cypress Cove names home-grown associate director

Fort Myers, Florida-based Cypress Cove announced the promotion of Matt Lessig to the position of associate executive director, according to a release.

Lessig, who is currently president of district 16 of the Florida Health Care Association, formerly served as the non-profit’s skilled nursing facility administrator for The Lodge at Cypress Cove.

The company also filled his former role from within, naming Tily Sayeh to the post of skilled nursing facility administrator. The promotion comes on the heels of her completion of the administrator-in-training program, a program with the Florida Board of Nursing Home Administrators.

Lessig and Sayeh’s respective promotions are a success story at a time in the senior housing sector when labor loyalty and recruitment are a hot-button issue. Sayeh started with Cypress Cove when she was 16 years old.

HMP finds new regional director

With more than 14 years of experience in seniors housing management, Quentin Jones has joined HMP Senior Solutions as a regional director of operations.

Jones will oversee the care and services of the Nashville-based operator’s skilled nursing and assisted living portfolio in the Southeast.

Before this move, which became effective earlier this month, Jones was vice president of Finance & Operations at Esquire GRP/ Spring Oak Senior Living.

SRG finds VP of HR from tech/defense sector

Chris Gladheim was named vice president of human resources at Southern California-based owner/operator, Senior Resource Group.

Gladheim, a Marine Corps veteran, makes the jump to senior housing after a stint as senior human resources director with a large-scale defense and technology company where he helped support more than 15,000 employees.

Anthem finds new community relations director

Beckie Halaska is the new community relations director at Littleton Colorado-based Willowbrook Place, an Anthem Memory Care community.

Halaska most recently served as director of business development with Sacred Passage Hospice in Littleton.

Treplus gets a new development executive

Columbus, Ohio-based active adult developer Treplus Communities announced James Lipnos as its new senior vice president of development and construction.

Lipnos brings more than 30 years of experience to the role including a stint as president of the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio and as president of Homewood Corporation.

New healthcare administrator for Park Springs

Atlanta-based Park Springs named Ronald Gooden healthcare administrator for its Stone Mountain community, an independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing facility in Stone Mountain, Georgia, according to a report from the Dekalb Neighbor.

Gooden will oversee the daily operations of the skilled nursing facility at Pebblebrook, which is the skilled nursing facility on-site.

Gooden’s most recent experience in the sector was at a 163-bed facility, where he also oversaw daily operations.

Denver community names first memory care director

The Courtyards at Mountain View named Michael James Flores as its first-ever memory care director. Flores most recently worked as resident care coordinator at a Brookdale property.

The Courtyards will soon offer memory care services, according to a release.

Holden Southcenter announces executive director

Tukwila, Washington-based assisted living and memory care community Holden Southcenter tapped Shane Fowler to be its executive director.

Fowler, a certified nursing assistant, brings more than 14 years of experience to the new community, part of the Milestone Retirement Communities portfolio. He was most recently a senior executive director for Sunrise Senior Living.
