Transform Podcast #59: Andrew Carle of Georgetown University and The Virginian

Andrew Carle has spent a long time in senior living, from working alongside Granger Cobb at Summerville Senior Living in the 1990s to now working as an adjunct lecturer at Georgetown University and as executive director of The Virginian, a CCRC in Fairfax, Virginia, managed by Life Care Services. From Carle’s perspective, the industry is in need of a long-term overhaul to transition into its next chapter. In particular, he believes forward progress will require new housing models to serve the next generation of older adults, new technologies geared toward meeting their needs and a lot more workers. In this episode of Transform, learn:

  • How automation and predictive analytics are the next evolution for senior living technology
  • Why university-based retirement communities (UBRCs) are still worth doing in a post-Covid world
  • How Carle worked with Nintendo in the early 2000s during the launch of the Wii
  • What the future holds for The Virginian as it embarks on a $56.5 million tech-forward renovation project
