Meet the Changemakers Driving the Future of Senior Living

Change is hard, but it’s more necessary than ever in senior living.

Supply and demand are misaligned in many metros, occupancy is down and labor costs are rising. At the same time, the massive population of baby boomers will bring new demands, payment models and referral patterns are shifting, technological innovation is transforming every facet of operations, new entrants are coming from other industries, and capital sources are becoming more numerous and sophisticated.

In this environment, Changemakers are needed, who can rise to today’s challenges, bring bold visions for the future, and have the skills and savvy to execute.

With this in mind, Senior Housing News carefully selected nine Changemakers who are driving the future of the industry. We will announce three Changemakers per month in June, July and August, and release in-depth interviews with each of them, in an exclusive series sponsored by Yardi.

The Changemakers are an eclectic group. Some are senior living veterans who have been on the leading edge of change for a decade or longer. Others are newer to the space and are executing on fresh ideas that challenge the status quo.

They specialize in different areas, including operations, real estate development and technology — but they also share many common attributes, including a willingness to think big and “color outside the lines,” even if that entails financial risk and near-term stress on successful, proven business models.

Above all, the Changemakers are role models for how to keep moving the industry forward.

Today, we’re pleased to thank Yardi for sponsoring this series, and delighted to kick off by introducing our first Changemaker: William Bullock, president of Latitude Margaritaville, Minto Communities USA.

Check out our interview with him, and keep watching Senior Housing News this week as we announce the next two members of our Changemakers class.
