Ryan Cos. Plans ‘Healthy Village’ in Minnesota

Ryan Companies US has announced plans for a “healthy village” concept on a 100-acre plot of land in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

The company is partnering with North Memorial Health to plan a mixed-use development that will include Maple Grove Hospital as the anchor of the project.

The village will serve as an outlet for North Memorial Health to collaborate with other health care providers, academic institutions and businesses. While plans are still coming together, the final product is expected to include health care, wellness, senior living, multifamily, office, hospitality, retail and public spaces.

Ryan Companies is partnering with the City of Maple Grove, North Memorial Health and other project partners to develop the land. The development team expects to break ground on the first projects in the fall of 2020 or the spring of 2021.

Pegasus Plans Memory Care Expansion

The Village at Rancho Solano, a Pegasus Senior Living community in Fairfield, California, is planning to add 52 memory care apartments.

The Village at Rancho Solano is one of six Pegasus communities that are piloting a new memory care program called Connections. The program blends research and holistic methods, with services that include music program SingFit, dining which adheres to the MIND diet and sounds and aromas tailored for the memory care environment.

If all goes according to plan, the expansion will open later this year.

Alliance Targets August Opening for California Community

If all goes according to plan, Alliance Residential in August will open a 200-unit community called Atria Almaden in San Jose, California. Atria Senior Living is slated to manage the community.

Amenities include a parking garage with charging stations for electric cards, multiple dining and lounge spaces, an outdoor pool, golf simulator, kitchen, fire pits, fitness center events centers.

Resort Lifestyle Communities to Break Ground on South Carolina Community

Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) is set to break ground on an independent senior living community in Irmo, South Carolina, on Feb. 11.

The $30 million, 180,000 square foot community, called Lakeview, will have public-facing amenities such as an in-house bank, pharmacy, gift shop and salon. The community will also have multiple dining venues for residents.

Erickson Living CCRC in Pennsylvania Starts Work on Expansion

Erickson Living has announced that Maris Grove, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, has held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Evergreen Pointe, a new three-story assisted living building on campus.

The addition will add 84 new assisted living apartment homes which range in size from studios to one- and two-bedroom options. Planned common areas include a living room, media room, creative arts studio, family kitchen, dining venue, games lounge, library nook and fitness room.

Erickson is also set to renovate Rose Court, an adjacent building which will get a new dedicated memory care neighborhood and redesigned lobby and bistro

Construction of Evergreen Pointe is expected to last about 18 months. Architectural firm SFCS was the project’s designer.

Construction Underway at Tennessee Community

Shannondale, a senior living community in Knoxville, Tennessee, is adding more independent living units.

The new independent living neighborhood, The Lodge, is scheduled to add 96 apartments to the community when it opens in the winter of 2020.

The addition will bring with it amenities including a fitness and wellness center with an indoor pool. The expansion’s lobby will have a “main street” concept modeled after a mountain chalet with a fireplace.

Cooper Architecture designed the community, and construction is currently underway with The Christman Company at the helm. Home Federal Bank financed the build.

Work Starts On $15 Million Senior Apartments in Florida

Roger B. Kennedy Construction recently broke ground for a new 139-unit rental project for older adults in Lakeland, Florida.

The community, Providence Reserve, is slated to have three two-story apartment buildings, a clubhouse and other amenities. Banyan Development developed the community, with design work from Architecture & Interior Design.

The project is slated for completion later this year in September.

North Carolina Community Starts Major Renovations

Grace Ridge, a retirement community in Morganton, North Carolina, has announced plans for a major renovation project.

The work will involve renovating more than 5,000 square feet on the community’s main level. Improvements are set to include a cafe with an outdoor patio area, salon, clinic and a lounge with its own outdoor patio.

Workers will also renovate the community’s wellness office, corridors, kitchen, and back entry with everything from new carpets and custom furniture to modern designs and finishes.

Grace Ridge partnered with the Frank L. Blum construction company and Steele Group Architects on the community. ID Collaborative is designing the interior.

Grace Ridge expects to wrap up the work by the winter of 2020.

Capitol Seniors Housing Opens New Jersey Community

Capitol Seniors Housing has opened a new community called Arbor Terrace Mount Laurel in New Jersey.

The 88-suite community is operated by The Arbor Company and offers assisted living and memory care services. Amenities include a bistro, theater spaces, art studio, technology lounge, fitness and rehab center, patio and a courtyard.

Oakmont Community Holds Grand Opening

Oakmont of Camarillo, a new Oakmont Senior Living community in Camarillo, California, officially opened its doors at the start of this year.

The community has 91 homes for assisted living and memory care residents and includes amenities such a library, movie theater with plush seating, fitness center with classes and activity rooms, salon, flower and vegetable garden, walking paths, a pet park and a wellness center with an on-site nurse.

Watercrest, United Properties Open Florida Community

Watercrest Senior Living Group and United Properties have announced the opening of Watercrest Naples Assisted Living and Memory Care, a 128-unit senior living community in Naples, Florida.

The community has amenities such as a spa, a bistro serving private label Watercrest wines and multiple dining venues with seasonal and organic fare. Additionally, memory care residents have access to a faux-outdoor streetscape with numerous LifeBUILT programming touches.

— Local officials in Grand Island, Nebraska, have voted to approve financing for a new senior living community there.

Plans are underway to turn an Evansville, Indiana Holiday Inn into an assisted living community.

In progress

— An assisted living community in Watertown, Connecticut, is on track to open later this month.

Construction has started on Stonepointe, a 238-unit affordable senior housing complex in Stonecrest, Georgia.

— Housing Trust Group has broken ground on an affordable housing complex in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

— Developer Evergreen Real Estate Group broke ground on Ravenswood Senior Living, a $81 million project to convert a 10-story former hospital in Chicago into 74 one-bedroom independent living apartments on the top six floors for Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) residents.

Complete

— Nonprofit developer BRIDGE Housing is celebrating the completion of La Vereda, an 85-unit affordable senior housing development in San Leandro, California.
