Presbyterian Homes and Services CEO Announces Retirement, Leadership Search Underway

Presbyterian Homes and Services (PHS) President and CEO Dan Lindh has announced his retirement after nearly fifty years with the organization, the company announced on Monday.

This sets in motion a leadership transition and search for a CEO that the PHS board of directors believes will be wrapped up in spring 2025. In the meantime, Lindh will continue to lead the organization until stepping down in May of 2025.

“It’s been an incredible blessing to be part of a mission and purpose of honoring God by enriching the lives and touching the lives of older adults and those who serve them,” said Lindh in a news release regarding his retirement. “I am humbled, thankful and privileged to have been part of this ministry for my entire career. I have been honored to work side-by-side with an outstanding board and a great leadership team, as well as capable and extraordinarily gifted staff.”

After joining PHS in 1976 as an accountant, Lindh worked his way up the ranks holding titles including chief financial officer, chief administrative officer, head of project development and chief operations officer before being named CEO in 1996.

The organization now stands as the third-largest nonprofit provider of senior housing and services in the country supporting 27,000 older adults across PHS-affiliated communities and through home-based services. During his tenure, PHS grew from one community to over 60 locations and from a roster of under 200 employees to one of over 7,500 staff members today.

“Dan’s impact has spread far beyond PHS, and his expertise and influence has helped shape the aging services industry,” said PHS Senior Communications Specialist Dave Rustad.

PHS Board of Directors Chairperson Jim Green said PHS was “grateful” for Lindh’s leadership and impact on the organization over the years.

“Dan’s unwavering commitment to serving older adults, his never-ending energy to upholding a deeply rooted Christian culture and his incredible business acumen have been instrumental in building an organization deeply focused on living out its mission of enriching the lives and touching the hearts of older adults,” Green said in the news release.
