Senior Lifestyle promotes area manager, regional director 

Senior Lifestyle recently promoted Richard Tournesy to operations area manager, where he will oversee operations of 21 communities in five states. The company also promoted Shari Lefevre to regional director of operations.

Prior to his promotion, Tournesy served as executive director of The Carlisle Palm Beach in Lantana, Florida.

Before joining Senior Lifestyle in 2019, he worked as an operations specialist for Validus Senior Living. Tournesy also previously worked as executive director for Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD) for three years and in multiple leadership positions, including senior executive director and regional dining services director, during a 20-year stint at Sunrise Senior Living.

Lefevre will serve as regional director of operations overseeing operations of nine communities in four states. Previously, Lefevre served as executive director of Thunderbird Senior Living, a 352-unit community in Glendale, Arizona.

While in that role, Lefevre grew the occupancy of the Thunderbird community to 96 percent from 67 percent in a one-year period. Lefevre has 13 years of experience in the senior living industry. Lefevre joined Senior Lifestyle in 2012. Prior to that, she worked at Freedom Inn at Sun City West.

Enso Village welcomes new finance officer

The Kendal Corporation and San Francisco Zen Center’s Enso Village community recently welcomed Timothy Swords as the new chief financial officer (CFO) for the community being built in Healdsburg, California. 

Swords will oversee finance, accounting, audit, business process and IT departments within Kendal.

Previously, he served as Director Risk Management for MUFG Union Bank, Wealth Markets Vice President of Strategy at Union Bank, Vice President of Strategy & Planning at Fidelity Investments, and Managing Associate at PwC.

He currently serves as the Board Chair of Interaction Associates, as a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northern California and as a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion.

Kisco community adds dining director

The Kensington at Walnut Creek, a Kisco Senior Living Community, announced Michael Tobias as its new director of dining.

Tobias brings more than 27 years of culinary experience to his new position. He will oversee daily operations and initiatives to elevate the dining experience of residents, team members and visitors.

His culinary career began in hospitality as a sous chef at the Hilton Hotel in Concord, California. From there, Tobias represented many different catering experiences as the executive chef.

Morning Pointe Senior Living appoints VP of development

Morning Pointe Senior Living appointed Scott Edens as its new vice president of professional development. He will support company initiatives and look to build culture in human resources, life enrichment.

Prior to joining Morning Pointe, Edens most recently served as president of Potentia Living. He also served as principal for Edens Group. In addition, he served as a regional vice president for nonprofit Ethica Health.

Buckner Retirement Services welcomes health administrator

The Buckner Westminster Place, a community operated by Buckner Retirement Services in Longview, Texas, announced Maggie Mercer as its health services administrator.

In her role, she will provide oversight of AL, memory care and skilled nursing associates and residents.

Mercer comes to Westminster Place from one of its sister communities, Ventana by Buckner in Dallas, where she served as the director of social services the past two years.

12 Oaks Senior Living promotes talent manager

12 Oaks Senior Living announced Marlene Garcia was recently promoted to the newly created role of talent acquisition manager.

Garcia previously started with 12 Oaks in 2016. In 2018 she joined the human resources team as talent acquisition coordinator. In her most recent role, he helped implement and grow a centralized recruiting function.

12 Oaks operates and owns 20 communities in five states.
