Maxwell Group Names Vice President of Operations

Maxwell Group, the parent company of Senior Living Communities, Wellmore, and Live Long Well Care, has named Blair Quasnitschka as the company’s vice president of operations.

In his new role, Quasnitschka is tasked with overseeing, training and mentoring the company’s executive directors and teams at communities in Connecticut, Indiana, North Carolina and inland South Carolina.

He first joined the company in 2017 as executive director at Evergreen Woods, a Maxwell Group property in North Branford, Connecticut.

Friendship Senior Options Promotes CFO to Interim CEO

Friendship Senior Options, a not-for-profit organization that sponsors two Chicago-area continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) has promoted Mike Flynn to the role of interim CEO. He previously worked as the organization’s CFO.

As CEO, Flynn has made it a goal to build back the organization’s census and return to more normal operations after the pandemic. He also seeks to improve the company’s physical spaces through renovations or additions.

Flynn has worked with Friendship Senior Options since 1989, when he became the organization’s director of finance.

Goodwin House Incorporated Appoints New CFO

Xan Smith is the new CFO at Goodwin House Incorporated, a non-profit organization that owns and operates two life plan communities and provides services for older adults in the Northern Virginia area.

Smith’s new job is effective Aug. 30. He succeeds Richard Carter, who is retiring after 12 years in the role.

Smith is currently president and CEO of Global Connections to Employment. Before that, he worked as CFO for two senior living organizations: Moorings Park in Naples, Florida; and Blue Skies of Texas in San Antonio. He has more than two decades of experience in senior living, managed care, and investment banking overall.

New CFO at SageLife

SageLife in June named John Watson as the organization’s chief financial officer.

As CFO, Watson manages financial management of the company and focuses on budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting and securing funding. He is also tasked with providing strategic, financial, and programmatic support to the organization.

Watson comes to the role with more than 30 years of experience in a variety of industries. He most recently worked as vice president and controller at Genesis HealthCare.

Pegasus Senior Living Names Regional VP of Operations

Pegasus Senior Living has hired Josh Lowe to work as the company’s regional vice president of operations.

Lowe’s new role will task him with overseeing operations, employee performance, and policies and procedures at Pegasus communities in a territory that includes Alabama, Georgia, and New York.

He comes to Pegasus with previous experience including at Atria Senior Living and Dominion Senior Living.

Pegasus also named Lisa O’Connor as the new sales director of Town Village of Leawood, an independent living community managed by Pegasus Senior Living in Leawood, Kansas. She has worked in the senior living industry for about five years.

Cadence Hires Operations Specialist, Regional VP of Operations

Cadence Living has hired Caitlin Van Der Schaaf as regional vice president of operations for the company’s Northwest region, and Amy Buchanan to the role of operations specialist for its West region.

Van Der Schaaf has responsibility over operations of Cadence Living’s managed communities in the Pacific Northwest. She has worked in senior living for more than 20 years, and previously worked in a regional operations role with Frontier Management.

As operations specialist, Buchanan will initially support operations at Tanner Spring, a Cadence community in Portland, Oregon. She also will act as executive director on an interim basis. Buchanan comes to the job with more than eight years of senior housing operational experience with companies that include Frontier Management and Holiday Retirement.

Koelsch Communities Hires ED, Community Relations Director in California

Koelsch Communities has appointed Irene Charnell as executive director and Terrie Peters as director of community relations at The Park at Laguna Springs, a senior living community in Elk Grove, California.

As executive director, Charnell looks after the community’s daily operations. She has more than 15 years of experience in senior living overall.

And as community relations director, Peters is responsible for forging relationships with local businesses and networking with other organizations. She has nearly a decade of senior living experience and previously worked at an assisted living and memory care community in Elk Grove.

Springpoint Hires ED, Sales Counselor for Forthcoming Community in New Jersey

Springpoint has hired Chris Slavicek as executive director and Allison Nappi as sales counselor of Springpoint Living at Manalapan, an assisted living and memory care community slated to open in fall of 2021 in Manalapan, New Jersey.

As executive director, Slavicek will direct community operations such as planning, development and quality control. He has more than 15 years of experience and most recently worked as senior administrator for an assisted living and memory care community in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

Nappi is responsible for sales of Springpoint Living at Manalapan’s assisted living and memory care units and facilitating move-ins. She has more than five years of senior living sales experience.

Colorado Community Welcoming New Executive Director

New Dawn Memory Care, a community in Colorado Springs, Colorado, has named Susan Morris to the role of executive director.

Morris has 16 years of experience as an executive director, and she is a certified dementia specialist.

John Knox Village Adds Two to Life Enrichment Team

John Knox Village, a life plan community in Pompano Beach, Florida, has hired Rachael Gallagher as spiritual life director and Melissa Jill Clark as lifestyle and aquatic coordinator.

Gallagher comes to John Knox Village from Pennsylvania, where she worked as an interfaith hospice chaplain and associate pastor. Clark has 25 years of experience as a life and wellness coach and previously worked as director of life enrichment and community outreach at a retirement community in Whiting, New Jersey.

Christensen Group Insurance Names SVP, Senior Living Practice Leader

Christensen Group Insurance has named Dereck Mattson as the organization’s new SVP, senior living practice leader.

In his new role, Mattson is tasked with helping the company’s clients succeed by providing insurance coverage, alternative risk financing and risk management design and implementation strategies. He has more than 10 years of technical expertise and has worked with client companies of all sizes.
