Movers & Shakers: Commonwealth Bolsters Regional Leadership; The Springs Living Creates New Resident Experience Role

Commonwealth Senior Living Bolsters Regional Leadership

Commonwealth Senior Living has hired three new leaders to oversee the company’s operations in several regions.

Monet Morris is now senior regional vice president, while Victoria Leitgeb and Rebecca Sturtz have been named regional vice presidents.

As senior regional vice president, Morris is tasked with overseeing Commonwealth’s operations in its eastern/peninsula regions. She has more than 10 years of experience and previously worked as market vice president of Richmond Jencare.

In their new regional vice president roles, Leitgeb will oversee the operations of communities in Commonwealth’s northern region, while Sturtz is responsible for the company’s southwestern communities. Leitgeb was most recently regional director of operations at Legend Senior Living, while Sturtz was most recently regional director of operations for Five Star Senior Living (NYSE: FVE).

Other recent staff moves at Commonwealth include Ronda Duckworth taking the role of senior regional vice president earlier this year. In that role, she oversees operations of Commonwealth’s portfolio of communities in its central and northwest regions along with managing the operator’s Center for Excellence.

Commonwealth also promoted Amber Foster to the role of regional vice president, a role that tasks her with overseeing the provider’s communities in Commonwealth’s eastern region communities, with support from Morris.

The Springs Living Creates Senior Community Experience Director Role

The Springs Living has named Laura Larson as the company’s senior community experience director, a newly created position.

In her new role, Larson is tasked with maintaining operational standards for the operator’s resident experience, including in its culinary, resident relations, life enrichment and memory care programs.

Larson previously worked at The Springs Living as the company’s regional director of operations, a role she has held since 2014.

Legacy Retirement Communities/WSLM Hires Director of Sales

Legacy Retirement Communities/Western States Lodging and Management has hired Robyn Childs as corporate director of sales.

As sales director, Childs is responsible for sales strategy and activities for the company’s communities in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, and Oklahoma.

Childs comes to the role with 13 years of experience in senior living operations, sales and marketing, and she previously held sales and marketing roles with Cadence Living, The Wolff Co., Koelsch Communities, MBK Senior Living and Atria Senior Living.

Marsh Names Co-Leaders for New Senior Living Practice

John Atkinson and Michael Pokora have joined insurance brokerage and risk advisory Marsh to co-lead a new senior housing and long-term care practice for markets in the U.S. and Canada.

In their newly created dual leadership role, Atkinson and Pokora are set to lead a team handling transactional and advisory solutions for senior housing and aging services companies. Atkinson is also leading the company’s Chicago office as chairman.

Atkinson and Pokora report to Jeffrey Alpaugh, who is the firm’s U.S. and Canada growth and industry leader. They come to the firm from Willis Towers Watson, where they previously worked as executive vice presidents and managing directors of the company’s senior living practice group.

Sunshine Retirement Living Appoints Executive Director for New York Community

Sunshine Retirement Living has appointed Mimi Piciullo as the executive director of Juniper Glen, an assisted living and memory care community in Beachwood, Ohio.

In her new role, Piciullo will manage the community’s day-to-day operations, such as its financials, marketing, community relations and health and safety functions. Piciullo has more than 27 years in the senior living industry overall.

Mission Senior Living Names Administrator for New Mexico Community

Mission Senior Living named Steve Lien as administrator of Three Rivers Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, a 124-unit senior living community currently under construction in Farmington, New Mexico.

Lien previously worked as regional director of franchise development and general manager at Defined Fitness.

Arizona Life Plan Community Appoints New Director of Admissions

Sagewood, a life plan community managed by Life Care Services in Phoenix, Arizona, has named Kelly Streck-Rider to the role of director of admissions for assisted living and memory care at the community’s Desert Willow neighborhood.

Streck-Rider has more than 20 years of experience in various health care settings, and previously worked as the sales counselor at the Terraces of Phoenix, another senior living community in Phoenix.

Ohio Living Names Palliative Care Executive Director

Ohio Living has named Rebecca Grunden as the company’s new executive director of palliative care.

Her new role, which is effective Sept. 8, is meant to help expand Ohio Living’s palliative care services. Grunden has served on Ohio Living Greater Toledo’s home health and hospice team for the past six years, and she has experience in hospice, palliative care, wound care and nursing home care.

New Acts Board Appointments

Acts Retirement-Life Communities has announced the appointment of new board members at two of its communities.

Reverend Tony Soper joined the board of directors of Westminster Village, a not-for-profit affiliate of Acts in Spanish Fort, Alabama; and Barrie Frazier Meima joined the board of directors of Heron Point of Chestertown, another Acts community in Chestertown, Maryland.

Both are also residents of their respective communities.
