LCS Taps COO Bird as President, Creates New Exec Role

Senior living giant LCS now has a new president following the promotion of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Chris Bird, the company announced on Tuesday.

Bird, who has over 25 years of senior living experience, began in the new role on Oct. 1 with the start of the fourth quarter of 2022. In his new role, he now will be responsible for leading the company’s operating activities and financial results..

In a news release, Bird said he was “honored” to start in the expanded leadership role.

“LCS is in a tremendous position as we lead our workforce in serving seniors,” he said.

The Des Moines, Iowa-based company is the nation’s third largest senior living provider with 135 communities across the country and an operating arm that serves more than 35,000 seniors.

Bird’s promotion paves the way for an additional hire. LCS is actively recruiting for a new executive vice president of operations and senior living management position to oversee its senior living management and health services portfolios.

LCS CEO Joel Nelson called Bird one of senior living’s “most respected leaders,” in a news release issued Tuesday.

“I am excited to use his expertise and experience to sharpen the strategic vision at LCS,” Nelson said.

Bird joined LCS in 2018 to lead the company’s rental division and in 2020 he was promoted to EVP/COO to oversee life care services, CPS, asset management and onboarding operations.

He is a current LCS Board of Directors member and has served as a member of the company’s audit committee. He also serves on the Argentum Advisory Council and the Argentum COO Roundtable.

LCS representatives could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday.
