Erickson Community in North Dallas Plans Independent Living Project
Highland Springs, an Erickson Living continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in North Dallas, has announced plans for a new independent living building.
The building, Lakeview Pointe, will have 102 residences in one- and two-bedroom floor plans. The building will also a new fitness center, salon and a bistro.
Construction for the project is underway, with an expected opening date in the spring of 2020.
Confluent, HRA to Break Ground on Connecticut Community
Confluent Senior Living and Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) are set to start construction this month on a new senior living community in South Windsor, Connecticut.
The groundbreaking will mark both companies’ entrance into Connecticut.
The community, HarborChase of Evergreen Walk, will have 113 assisted living and memory care units. Planned amenities include a barber and beauty salon, fitness and wellness center, bar and lounge, club room, classrooms and activity room, bistro and a private dining room with an exhibition kitchen. Outdoor amenities include a secure courtyard with a fire pit, dining area, putting green, gardens and walking paths with exercise stations.
Plunkett Raysich Architects is the project’s architect, while Whiting-Turner is the general contractor.
Friendship Village of Bloomington Starts $114.5 Million Expansion
Friendship Village of Bloomington recently broke ground on a $114.5 million expansion and redevelopment project in Bloomington, Minnesota.
The project is planned to add a new independent living building with 93 apartments and a new health center building.
Renovations are also in the works for all of the community’s skilled nursing and rehab suites.
Phoenix Community in Alabama On Track for 2020 Opening
Phoenix Senior Living has opened a sales trailer at The Bluffs at Greystone. a forthcoming 136-unit independent and assisted living in Birmingham, Alabama.
The building will have studio, one and two-bedroom apartments and amenities such as a bistro, a pub, salon, an arts and crafts center, restaurant-style dining, a spa and massage area and fitness and yoga studios.
The property is slated to open in the spring of 2020.
Construction Starts for New Hampshire Project
Work has started on an expansion and redevelopment at Summercrest, a Grand Senior Living assisted living community with 54 units in Newport, New Hampshire.
The $7.2 million project was will include renovations to the existing common areas, a new cafe and marketplace, an expanded activity room, a new hair salon and a new outdoor patio.
Mackenzie Architects designed the community, while Stewart Construction is managing the construction.

— A developer has plans to build a 51-unit independent living community in Potomac, Maryland.

— Work has started in Houston for an LGBTQ-affirmed senior living center with 112 units for low-income older adults.
— Workers broke ground on a 26-residence independent living community in Marquette, Michigan.

— Charleston, South Carolina, has a new 221-unit senior living community.
— Aug. 27 is the day a new assisted living community comes online in Tomball, Texas.
— Panama City Beach, Florida, just got a new $40 million resort-style senior living community.
