Healthpeak Evaluates Moving Headquarters To New City

Real estate investment trust Healthpeak Properties (NYSE: PEAK) reportedly is considering moving the company headquarters.

Currently, the REIT is based in Irvine, California. Nashville is being considered as a new headquarters location, the Nashville Business Journal (NBJ) reported Friday. Denver and Dallas are also under consideration, according to the NBJ.

Healthpeak declined to comment to Senior Housing News.

The company does currently have an office near Nashville in Franklin, Tennessee. And like the other so-called “Big 3” REITs with substantial senior housing portfolios, Healthpeak has a relationship with the largest operator in the nation, Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD), which is also based near Nashville.

Prior to a rebranding last year, Healthpeak was known as HCP. The company has a portfolio of health care properties across the senior housing, life science and medical office sectors, with over $20 billion of owned real estate.

The company in recent years has moved to diversify its portfolio and today receives about 30% of its income from its senior housing operating, triple-net and continuing care retirement community (CCRC) portfolios. Like other REITs, Healthpeak has been looking to divest senior housing during the Covid-19 pandemic — although company executives recently indicated that they intend to hold onto their CCRC campuses.
