Health Care, Senior Housing Industry Veteran Joins Ascension Living as CEO

Ascension Living has named a seasoned health care and senior housing and care industry veteran to its top leadership role.

The St. Louis-based senior living operator, which is part of non-profit Catholic health system Ascension, on Tuesday announced Christopher Caserta has taken the reins as CEO.

By taking the CEO role, Caserta is assuming a position once held by Danny Stricker, who less than a year ago left the organization to launch Chapters Living with Green Street Real Estate Ventures.

In his new role, Castera is tasked with leading Ascension’s senior housing and care services, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation.

He comes to the organization with more than two decades of experience in regional and national health systems and post-acute care organizations. His past roles include vice president of ancillary services and quality at Ciena Healthcare and vice president of strategy and marketing at Trinity Health.

At Trinity in particular, he helped lead national strategy for independent living and assisted living senior housing communities.

“Thus far in my career, I have had the pleasure of overseeing and growing models that make senior living and healthcare more engaging, accessible, and affordable,” said Caserta. “Meeting the personal needs and desires of those we serve is vitally important, especially today, and I am incredibly excited to join Ascension.”

Ascension Living has communities in 11 states and Washington, D.C.
