Formation Capital Founder Leads $9M Funding Round for Senior Living AI Tech Company TSOLife

TSOLife, a company providing an artificial intelligence-based platform for senior living communities, recently completed a $9 million Series A funding round led by Formation Capital Founder and Executive Chairman Arnold Whitman.

Whitman, a longtime venture investor in senior living and founding partner of Generator Ventures, undertook the funding in coordination with Omega Healthcare Investors (NYSE: OHI) and Chicago-based investment bank Ziegler Linke-age Fund III, according to an announcement.

TSOLife uses AI to pour through data in search of social determinants of care and other factors that would improve the quality of life of all residents. Its business platform, TSOLife Minerva, interviews residents upon move-in and collects audio-based data to determine where and how residents should receive care and how operators should allocate staff to do so.

In total, the company’s innovative software is in “hundreds” of communities nationwide, including with large operators Brookdale (NYSE: BKD), Aegis Living and Benchmark Senior Living, according to a representative for TSOLife.

“The way TSO collects and utilizes data around socialization is groundbreaking and naturally leads to the eventual integration of healthcare data,” Whitman told Senior Housing News. He added that the platform is “very cool and very powerful.”

With the new funding, the company is growing quickly, with a goal of increasing its employee base by 70% by the end of the year. The company is specifically seeking for development, customer success and sales and marketing leaders.

The latest funding round will also allow TSO to accelerate the company’s ability to enhance the lives of seniors by leveraging data to provide resident insight technology, according to CEO Davis Sawyer.

“We have a passion for bringing state-of-the-art-tech to the market, while never forgetting that our goal is to improve the lives of residents and staff,” Sawyer wrote in the company’s announcement.
