Edison Equity Residential announce 55+ development

Edison Equity and Arctrust have announced plans for a 55+ development adjacent to The Woodlands as part of the Woodforest master planned community by Johnson Development, according to a news release.

The development calls for 133 one- and two-bedroom apartment homes along with 32 private villas with attached garages.

Planned amenities include a restaurant and social bar, fitness center, resort-style pool, pickleball court, indoor golf simulator, art studio, club room, wine room and access to a trail system. The first move-ins could occur in November 2026.

The project architect is The Clerkley Watkins Group with interior design by Kathy Andrews Interiors alongside general contractor The Brownstone Group.

New affordable senior housing project announced in North Carolina

Nonprofit organization East Carolina Community Development and Avanti Residential Housing have entered a partnership to develop a $50 million affordable housing project for older adults 55 and up, according to a news release.

Located in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, the 32-acre community will include 50 “quad-style” residential buildings with one- and two-bedroom units, along with a central clubhouse, walking paths and sitting areas on landscaped grounds.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2027.

Acts Retirement-Life Communities expands in South Carolina 

Nonprofit senior living provider Acts Retirement-Life Communities recently announced an expansion project  at the Park Pointe Village community in Rock Hill, South Carolina, according to a news release. 

The expansion project will add 109-acres to the campus and “more than double” the community’s independent living offerings while adding improved lifestyle amenities with plans for a new, 18,000 square-foot clubhouse, the release states.

“This is more than just an expansion, it’s a significant advancement of the Park Pointe Village lifestyle and the broader Rock Hill community,” said Jim Petty, Chief Strategy Officer for Acts Retirement-Life Communities. “We’re creating new ways for residents to connect, thrive, and live their best lives every day.”

The effort will add 130 new independent living units including spacious apartments and duplex carriage homes. New amenities will include walking trails, pickleball courts and new restaurants, along with new gathering spaces. The project will also add 20 assisted living suites and a memory care neighborhood.

Kingsbury Living grows in Ohio

Senior living provider Kingsbury Living announced the initial opening of a $28 million senior living community in Lancaster, Ohio, according to a news release.

The property, known as Kingsbury Living-Lancaster, will include independent living, assisted living and memory care units. The development includes 81 assisted living apartments, with future construction planned for 32 independent living luxury villas.

Amenities include restaurant-style dining, a library, pub, bistro, fitness room and salon, along with various gathering rooms.

The community is the first in “what is planned to be a statewide network of senior living communities” from the company, which formed in 2023.
