The NexCore Group named Phillip Barklow President of Experience Senior Living earlier this week.
Barklow has spent more than 25 years in the senior living space, including with national operators Balfour Senior Living and Atria Senior Living.
His most recent role was as COO for Balfour.
At Balfour, he oversaw every aspect of the day-to-day operations. He also supervised the construction management team.
He also spent nearly five years with Atria Senior Living as both senior executive director and regional vice president. He spent more than three years as a VP of senior living with Nexus Development.
In this time at Atria, Barklow oversaw 25 communities with about 2,400 residents and about 1,600 employees all across Southern California.
“I have been impressed by the previous accomplishments of Experience Senior Living,” Barlow said in a press release.
Based in Denver, the NexCore Group is a national health care real estate developer and investor with a portfolio that includes outpatient healthcare centers, emergency departments, cancer centers, and other healthcare-related assets in addition to nine senior living communities and centers. The firm also operates its senior living communities.
NexCore Group President, Jarrod Daddis, also commented on the addition of Barklow saying that the firm is honored to bring him on board.
The senior living portfolio currently includes nine communities, in Florida, Ohio, and Indiana, according to the NexCore website.
Among the projects under construction, Experience Senior Living expects to welcome residents to its Gallery at Port Orange community, a Florida-based project that broke ground in the early months of 2020.
That community includes an 80-unit independent living building connected to a 60-unit assisted living property with a 24-bed memory care wing, according to NexCore’s website. The firm anticipates market demand for this type of continuum of care, without an entrance fee.
